Denmark Kick Off EURO 2024 Campaign with Draw Against Slovenia

Eriksen Scores Denmark's Opening Goal

Denmark Recovers from Early Setback to Reach EURO 2024

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Denmark's Christian Eriksen scored the opening goal in their EURO 2024 campaign, but it was not enough to secure a victory as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Slovenia in their Group C opener in Cologne, Germany.

Denmark had recovered from a surprise early reverse in Kazakhstan to reach EURO 2024. They had been looking to make a strong start to the tournament, but they were frustrated by a determined Slovenia side.

Eriksen gave Denmark the lead in the 30th minute with a fine strike from outside the area. However, Slovenia equalized just before half-time through Andraž Šporar.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the second half, but neither could find a breakthrough. Denmark will be disappointed not to have taken all three points, but they will be confident of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Denmark will face Switzerland in their next match on Thursday, June 14, while Slovenia will take on the Netherlands.
